In exchange, it offered an opportunity for Turkish journalists to spend a longer period of time working for a German host media organization. Former Federal President Johannes Rau personally authorized the fellowship to bear his name, given the importance of German-Turkish relations. Since then, hundreds of German and Turkish journalists have been able to spend time in the respective host country.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, five young Turkish journalists get the opportunity to work as temporary correspondents at a host media outlet in Germany. This is immediately followed by an eight-week stay at the Turkish or German host media outlets.<\/p>\n<p>Upon returning from their stay abroad, the fellows are required to submit a report about their experience of at least three pages as well as copies of their published articles.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"flex__item one-third lg-one-half sm-one-whole margin-bottom\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"inner\"><h2>Application<\/h2>\n<p>Applications are open to Turkish between the ages of 25 and 37. Candidates do not need any prior knowledge of German or Turkish, however a very good command of English is mandatory.<\/p>\n<p>Further information on the individual application documents can be found in the current call for applications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"flex__item one-third lg-one-half sm-one-whole margin-bottom\">\n\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"inner\"><h2>Scholarship<\/h2>\n<p>Up to five journalists from Turkey can participate in the programme each year. Each fellow receives a one-time payment of 4,000 euros. This amount is intended as a contribution towards transportation, accommodation and other expenses.
